Waiting has never been so excruciating. I’d never before considered what would happen to my life if I were to get seriously ill (a tragic side effect of being young, feeling invincible) and suddenly it was a possibility. I only told my mum and my girlfriend, even then reluctantly, but the burden of not knowing for a week was almost too much.
